Kuhn Injured, Chiefs 6-2 Win Over Tri-City

The Spokane Chiefs won their third straight game on the road as a 4 goal second period lifted the Chiefs to a 6-2 win over the Tri City Americans Saturday night in Kennewick.

The Chiefs Blake Gal would score off a face off win by Matt Marantz to score his 18th goal of the season at 6:18 of the first period to give Spokane a 1-0 lead after one.

Tri City would even the game at one on an Adam Hughesman power play goal at 3:49 of the second period. The Americans Sam Grist then took a 5 minute major and a game misconduct on a boarding major on the Chiefs Steve Kuhn to put Spokane on a 5 minute at will power play at 7:14 of the period. The Chiefs converted quickly as Brendan Kichton scored his 18th of the season from Mitch Holmberg and Tyler Johnson at 7:46 to make it 2-1 Spokane. Johnson would then notch his league leading 44th of the year from Levko Koper and Kichton at 11:08 to put the Chiefs up 3-1. Corey Baldwin would cap the power play with his 2nd of the season from Davis Vandane and Gal at 11:44 to give Spokane a 4-1 advantage. Kichton then scored his second goal of the night at 16:21 from Gal and Marantz to give the Chiefs a 5-1 lead after two periods.

Tri City scored on the power play goal late in the third to cap the scoring as Spokane outshot Tri City 39-23 in the contest, going 3-4 on the power play.

The Chiefs will wrap up their 5 game road trip with another game in Kennewick against the Americans Monday night at 7pm. The game is the make up game for the New Year's Eve contest lost due to poor ice conditions. The contest will be made up in its entirety.
