Out of roughly a thousand votes cast in this spring's SWX Spirit Cup Presented By Rockwood Clinic, the students, parents, teachers and fans of the Wildcats cast the most - enough to win the award for the second time in a row.

The traveling trophy was awarded to the Wildcats Friday morning on KHQ Local News Today.

Central Valley, who won the first-ever Spirit Cup award, came in second. North Central High School, who on the same night upset the No. 1 seeds in both the boys and girls district basketball tournaments, came in third.

Mt. Spokane gets bragging rights and the rights to the traveling trophy until the next Spirit Cup is awarded in Fall 2011.

The Spirit Cup is given to the school that displays the most school spirit by voting in the contest on SWXRightnow.com. Each fan was given a chance to vote once per day for the four week duration of the contest. The contest included schools from all over the northern portion of Eastern Washington as well as North Idaho.

The next Spirit Cup contest will be held near the end of high school football season in Fall 2011. Exact dates of the contest will be released once they become finalized.
