Former Spokane Indian Pitcher Gets Contract With Rangers

Posted: Updated:

Former Spokane Indian pitcher Miguel de los Santos signed a league minimum contract with the Texas Rangers, the team said Thursday.

De los Santos split the 2010 season between Spokane and Hickory, combining to go 4-2 with a 2.94 ERA. He had 112 strikeouts in 19 games, thirteen of which were starts. He was also named the Minor League Pitcher for the month of July while he was in the Northwest.

The league minimum is contract $414,000.  Outfielder Engle Beltre, LHP Zach Phillips and RHP Mason Tobin also got league minimum.

Originally one of the Rangers' top prospects in 2006, de los Santos is considered one of the top up-and-comers that could develop intoa fulltime starter.

The Rangers also announced they had come to terms with record-setting closer Neftali Feliz and outfielder Julio Borbon.
