SPOKANE, Wash. - The wildcat offense is all the rage in the NFL, but it could also make an appearance at Gonzaga Prep this week. Bullpups coach Dave McKenna confirmed Tuesday that starting quarterback Shane Schmidlkofer will be out of the lineup for a while.

McKenna said the senior signal caller injured his shoulder in last week's game against Shadle. He'll miss at least two weeks, leaving Prep with few options at the quarterback position.

Gonzaga Prep will essentially be down to their fourth string QB Thursday against Mt. Spokane.

That's because the backup from last year transferred to University and the No. 3 broke his wrist in the preseason.

Facing the reality of playing with a young, inexperienced quarterback Prep may place even more responsibility on their star running back, Bishop Sankey by running more of a wildcat-style offense.

Prep's game against Mt. Spokane is the late game at Joe Albi Stadium, starting around 7:15 on Thursday evening. The early game is Central Valley versus Mead. Both games will be broadcast live on SWX-TV.

SWXRightNow.com will feature a webcast game on Friday betwen Rogers and North Central. The game gets started at 5:30 p.m. with Steve Myklebust and Jared Frank calling the action, along with a live play-by-play blog.
