PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State's final scrimmage featured a flurry of passing as the Cougars prepared to open the season Sept. 4 at Oklahoma State, which features a pass-first offense.

Starting quarterback Jeff Tuel completed 8 of 15 passes for 87 yards in Thursday's short scrimmage, while backup Marshall Lobbestael connected on 10 of 15 passes for 95 yards.

The defense forced two turnovers, including an interception from freshman safety Deone Bucannon and a fumble recovery by freshman cornerback Damante Horton. Freshmen Casey Locker, a safety, and Darren Markle, a linebacker, led the Cougars in tackles with four each.

Freshman running back Leon Brooks led the Cougars with four catches and 47 rushing yards.
