Gonzaga finalized its non-conference basketball schedule on Wednesday, adding one last – but very interesting – game. The school calls it a "Family Feud" opener.

The Zags will open their 2010-11 season against Southern University on Nov. 12. Gonzaga's website called it the "Family Feud" opener because redshirt junior Robert Sacre's father just happens to be Southern's athletic director. So who does Greg LaFleur root for: his employer, or his son?

"We've been talking about doing this for a couple of years, and this year it worked out," said Gonzaga coach Mark Few in a news release.

Southern is located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and is a member of the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

The rest of the Zags' non-conference schedule includes several other formidable foes, including three teams that played in the NCAA Tournament last season. They play at Notre Dame on Dec. 11 in the first-ever meeting of the two schools, at home against Xaxier on Dec. 22 and on the road against Wake Forest on Jan. 2.

Gonzaga will also play Eastern Washington, Lewis-Clark State College, Lafayette College, IUPU, San Diego State and Cal State-Bakersfield. They'll face Illinois in the Battle in Seattle, Baylor on Dec. 18 in Dallas, Oklahoma State at home in Spokane and Memphis Feb. 5 in the Spokane Arena. And they'll join Duke, Marquette, and Kansas State for a tournament in Kansas City on Nov. 23.

The West Coast Conference schedule has yet to be finalized. All game times and TV arrangements will be announced as those conference games become solidified.
