SPOKANE, Wash. (July 16, 2010) – Gonzaga University men's basketball junior-to-be Bol Kong has withdrawn from summer school for personal reasons and will not return to the Bulldogs for the upcoming season, head coach Mark Few announced Friday.
Kong, who will return to his home in Vancouver, B.C., appeared in 31 games last season in a reserve role, averaging 12.5 minutes/game, 4.5 ppg and 1.5 rpg. He had six double-digit scoring games, including a season-high 14 points in a victory over the University of Oklahoma at the Spokane Arena.
"We wish Bol well in his future endeavors," Few said.
Kong came to the Bulldogs last season from Douglas College in Westminster, B.C., where he played as a freshman and redshirted as a sophomore while waiting for his visa so he could transfer to Gonzaga. Douglas College won the 2008 Canadian Men's National Championship and he was named to the All-Tournament team.
