Indians lose 2-1 in 10 innings

Posted: Updated:

The Spokane Indians pitching staff combined for 12 strikeouts, but the offense couldn't get the job done in a 2-1, 10-inning loss to the Vancouver Canadians Wednesday.

Wade Kirkland singled in the bottom of the 10th to score center fielder Jeff Bercume from second base for the walkoff win.

The Canadians scored first when Spokane starting pitcher Miguel de los Santos walked Kirkland with the bases loaded. The Indians tied it in the sixth off Alejandro Selen's double.

Both teams threatened in the later innings, but neither team could put the game away until Kirkland's hit in the 10th.

With the loss, Spokane is now 1-4 for the season, while Vancouver is 3-3. The same two teams play Thursday and Friday. The Indians return to Spokane to open a series with Everett on Saturday.
