Genna Dodge, who will be a sophomore on Gonzaga University's women's golf team next season, received one of the better phone calls of her young life this week.

Dodge, from Post Falls, Idaho, has been selected to compete in the 2010 U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship beginning Monday at The Warren Golf Course at Notre Dame on the University of Notre Dame campus in South Bend, Ind.

She will join fellow sophomore Victoria Fallgren who qualified through sectional qualifying at Los Serranos Golf & Country Club in Chino Hills, Calif.

Dodge, from Post Falls, Idaho, shot a 74 and was one of two alternates in the Tacoma, Wash., sectional qualifier played at Meadow Park Golf Course earlier this month. Now she is in the field of 156 which will play two days of stroke play Monday and Tuesday with the low 64 scores advancing to match play. A 36-hole championship is slated for June 26.

The Warren Golf Course will be a par 71 layout at either 6,096 or 6,133 yards depending on the layout of the par 4 sixth hole which will play either 363 or 400 yards for the championship.

Dodge and Fallgren will play in a tournament in Los Angeles this week then fly directly to South Bend.
