BEREA, Ohio -- Mike Nahl finished sixth in the shot put on Friday at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Baldwin-Wallace College. In addition, Emmanuel Bofa posted the day's fastest qualifying time during the trials of the 800 meter run.

Nahl (Sr., West Seattle, Wash.) finished sixth in the shot put with a distance of 53'-8.25" (16.36 meters). His best throw of the day came on his third attempt. He was just off of his season-best mark of 55'-1". It is Nahl's first All-American performance of his career, after three previous trips to either indoor or outdoor nationals.

Jeff Kintner (Sr., Wenatchee, Wash.) struggled with his footing throughout the shot put and faulted on all three of his attempts in the second flight. He had entered the event as one of the favorites.

Bofa (Sr., Puyallup, Wash.) put himself in position to win the 800 meters for the third consecutive season. The two-time defending champion won the second trials heat with a time of 1:50.86. His time was also faster than any of the runners in the first heat, making him the top seed heading to Saturday's finals.

Dusty Caseria (Sr., Bellingham, Wash.), making a bid to qualify for finals in his first-ever nationals appearance, led the opening trials heat for 500 meters. But he could not sustain the pace and fell back in the pack, finishing eighth in the heat with a time of 1:53.85.

The meet will concludes on Saturday with three Pirate men competing. Bofa will race in the finals of the 800 meters, Carter Comito (Fr., Spokane, Wash.) will throw the discus, and Cody Stelzer (Sr., The Dalles, Ore.) will compete in the high jump.
