SPOKANE, Wash. - Washington State - make that the No. 22 WSU Cougars - return to the diamond Tuesday with a game against Gonzaga in Spokane.  The game at 6:30 p.m. at Patterson Baseball Complex can be seen live on SWX-TV.

The Cougars are coming off their first-ever sweep of conference rival USC. A strong win over Gonzaga, last year's WCC regular season champions, would bolster their hopes of playing in the NCAA postseason.

For its part, Gonzaga is coming off a rare sweep of their own. The Zags downed Loyola Maymount

over the weekend using three impressive starting pitching performances from Cody Martin, Ryan Carpenter and Jeremy Stumetz.

Martin went eight innings in last Friday's 8-4 win. Carpenter followed it up in game two, going six innings in a 5-3 win. Stumetz allowed just one unearned run in Sunday's game, helping Gonzaga to a 6-1 win.

Washington State won the first two meetings against Gonzaga, winning 7-5 in March and 5-4 in April.
