UPDATE:

Bellitti wins Friday's 13th stage; Farrar finishes 105th

Manuel Belletti has given Italy a second straight stage victory in the Giro d'Italia, winning the
13th leg while Richie Porte of Australia retained the overall lead. Wenatchee's Tyler Farrar finished in 105th place one day after coming in 19th in Stage 12.

Belletti overtook Craig Lewis of the United States shortly before the finish and then the Colnago rider held off Greg Henderson of New Zealand to finish the 138-mile ride from Porto Recanati to Cesenatico in 5 hours, 27 minutes, 12 seconds.

Porte finished in the main pack to safely protect the pink jersey.

A group of 17 riders stayed together for the majority of the race before a number of attacks  over the final 20 kilometers. Lewis attacked with less than a mile to go, but tired to finish eighth.

Wenatchee native Tyler Farrar won another stage of one of cycling's premiere world events, the Giro d'Italia.

Farrar won the 230-kilometer stage 10 from Avellino to Bitonto on Tuesday. Stage 11 is from Lucera to L'Aquila - a 262km marathon that could take more than seven hours. The route takes riders through three difficult climbs in the Appennines.

Farrar's other first place finish was on the second stage May 9 from Amsterdam to Utrecht. Tuesday was the third time he's finished in the top five. He leads all racers with 84 points, securing the red jersey for another day.

As a sprinter instead of a climber, Farrar is expected to struggle somewhat as the Giro's final week takes cyclists through the Dolomites.
