Mortellaro leads Idaho at NCAA Regionals

STANFORD, Calif. – The University of Idaho women's golf team is tied for 19th after the first round of the NCAA West Regional at the Stanford University Golf Course.

The Vandals fired an opening round 312 with Kayla Mortellaro leading the way with a three-over 74, which ties for 26th. Teo Poplawski was next for the Vandals with a 75 to tie for 35th with Frida Nilsson tied for 96th at 80, Amanda Jacobs tied for 112th at 83, and Annika Karlsson 119th at 86.

Arizona and Virginia are tied for the opening round lead at 291 with UCLA and California tied for third at 292.

San Jose State's Madeleine Ziegert took the opening-day lead with a 67.

The tournament continues Friday and concludes with the final 18 holes Saturday.
