AUSTIN, Texas -- Washington State's Jeshua Anderson, the two-time defending Texas Relays intermediate hurdles champion, advanced from the Thursday prelims at the 83rd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the University of Texas Austin campus.

Anderson, a junior from Woodland Hills, Calif., ran the fastest time among the 57 competitors in the men's 400m hurdles preliminary heats of 50.85 seconds. He is also the two-time Pacific-10 Conference and NCAA intermediate hurdles champion. Last year at the Texas Relays, Anderson ran a winning time of 49.48. Anderson, who owns the WSU school record time of 48.47 (2009), will run against eight other qualifiers in the Saturday afternoon final, including Southern California freshman Reggie Wyatt who broke Anderson's national prep 300m hurdles record last year. Wyatt ran a prelim time of 50.92.

Veronica Elseroad-Wall (junior, Casper, Wyo.) ran a season-best time of 1:02.09 in the women's 400m hurdles which was 10th-best out of the 52 women racing in the preliminary heats, with only the top nine advancing to the final. Elseroad-Wall missed the final by only 35/100s of a second. Angele Cooper from Texas had the fastest prelim time of 59:39.

More Cougars will compete in both track and field events Friday and Saturday at the Texas Relays.
