EUGENE, Ore. - Lekendric Longmire had 17 points and 10 rebounds and Oregon defeated Washington State 74-66 in the regular season finale amid a report that beleaguered Oregon coach Ernie Kent has already been fired.
Eugene television station KVAL reported Kent's firing during the game. The station cited unidentified sources as saying Kent had been told he was being let go on Feb. 22 after home losses to Stanford and California.
Oregon athletic director Mike Bellotti would not confirm the story as he was leaving Mac Court after the game.
A near sell-out crowd of 8,761 watched the Ducks beat the Cougars (16-14, 7-11) to prevent a last-place finish in the Pac-10 for the second straight season.
