YAKIMA, Wash. - Led by tournament MVP Haley Moser top-ranked Colton cruised to its second straight Class 1B girls title with a 64-34 victory Saturday over Almira/Coulee-Hartline. Combined, the Wildcats made a single-game tournament-record 11 3-pointers in a contest that was in hand at halftime with Colton up 38-15.
"Obviously, we played very well today," Wildcats coach Clark Vining said. "We do take a lot of 3-pointers, though we don't always make seven in a half." In four tourney appearances, Colton has placed third, second, and first twice.
Kelsey Moser, last year's tournament MVP, added 11 points and McKenzie Heasley 10 for Colton. Colton shot 44 percent to ACH's 29 percent. Nikki Osborne and Sarah Gloyn scored 10 points each for ACH (23-4). ACH earned its 10th trophy in 15 state appearances.
