After beating Tri-City 2-1 on Saturday night, you could say the Spokane Chiefs are on a roll. And you could say that Mitch Wahl should be given a lot of credit for the team's recent success. In fact, the Western Hockey League said as much by naming him the Player of the Week on Monday.

The Chiefs' forward from Seal Beach, Calif. picked up eight points over the past four games. Last week he scored two goals and six assists to go with a +4 rating. The Chiefs went 4-0 over that span and could win their eighth in a row Wednesday against Everett in Spokane.

Last week on Monday, Wahl picked up three assists and was named the game's 3rd Star, as the Chiefs downed the Silvertips 3-2. Then on Wednesday, he found the net twice against Kamloops and added an assist in the Chiefs 7-0 blowout win on the road. On Friday Wahl notched one assist, and then the next evening picked up an assist on the Chiefs' game-winning goal to beat the Tri-City Americans 2-1.

Wahl's eight points over the last four games has him sitting sixth among WHL scorers with 83 points (27 goals, 56 assists) in 62 games played.

The Chiefs currently find themselves in fourth place in the Western Conference with a 38-20-3-1 record for 80 points, just five in back of first place Tri-City.

After Wednesday's game against Everett in Spokane, the Chiefs host Prince George on Friday and Tri-City on Saturday. The game against the Ams can be seen live on SWX –TV (in the Spokane area ONLY).
