Brandon Jones, a starting cornerback for Washington State, was dismissed from the team on Tuesday after being arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence over the weekend.

Jones, a redshirt junior who transferred to Pullman from California, was arrested and charged by WSU police early Saturday morning. A statement from the school on Tuesday said Jones was dismissed from the team for "violation of team rules".

According to a police report, campus police arrested Jones for DUI at 3:13 a.m. on the 1300 block of NE McGee Way just north of the school's campus.

Jones, who played at O'Dea High School in Seattle began his collegiate career at California. He redshirted one year, played in 12 games for the Bears and then decided to transfer to Washington State after the 2007 season. He sat out the 2008 season as per NCAA rules and then returned to the field in 2009 to start 11 games for the Cougars.
