Zags look to bounce back against Portland

The Gonzaga Bulldogs, still trying to shake the sour taste from their mouths after last week's loss to San Francisco, have an opportunity to get back on track Thursday night at the McCarthey Athletic Center.  Home sweet home.

The Zags welcome the Portland Pilots to the MAC for an 8 p.m. game seen on ESPN2.  The last time the two teams played Gonzaga came away with a slim 81-78 win in Portland, and they know sweeping the Pilots will be a challenge to say the least.

"They score really well inside, they penetrate well and they shoot the 3-ball really well," said Zags guard Matt Bouldin in practice this week. "A team that shoots it like that always has a chance to stay in games.  And I'm sure they're going to be just as hungry as they've ever been."

Bouldin continued to point to the loss to San Francisco, saying it might be just what the Pilots have been looking for: a moment of weakness or a point of vulnerability.

"After that loss to San Francisco they're going to think that we're a little vulnerable or something like that. We just need to come out with the same fire we had earlier this season and really contain the three and contain their inside game."
