    Cody Hecker, a bruising running back from Sandpoint became one of 14 players – many of them from the Northwest – to commit to Eastern Washington's football program Wednesday. Hecker helped lead the Bulldogs to the state title game this past season, running for 10 touchdowns, averaging almost 8 yards a carry and earning First Team All-4A Inland Empire honors.More >>

Jason Bates, who had an outstanding high school career at Ferris High School in Spokane signed a letter of intent to play football at Central Washington on Wednesday morning.

Bates was the second Saxon to formally commit to playing football at the next level on Wednesday, National Letter of Intent Day.  Teammate and standout quarterback Connor Halliday committed to Washington State, along with two other players from the Greater Spokane League.  Jake Rodgers (TE, Shadle) and Aaron Dunn (TE, Mead) also signed with Washington State.

In addition to taking Bates, Central Washington received commitments from several other players from the Evergreen State. Josef Fuest, a running back from Eisenhower High School in Yakima also committed to CWU, as did Ethan Sterkel, a quarterback from Ellensburg (see list below)
