SPOKANE, Wash. - As far as Division III games go, Friday's night's showdown in Spokane is one to watch. Whitworth, ranked No. 18 in the nation, hosts Linfield College in conference game shown live on SWX-TV.

The Pirates are on a 12-game winning streak, nine of which were decided by double figures. The most impressive of those wins was a 94-84 win over previously unbeaten and third-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater.

"Well, it's a showdown of two undefeated Northwest Conference teams," explained head coach Jim Hayford. "We're 7-0, Linfield's 6-0. Last year in our conference playoffs we beat them on our floor to advance to the championship game and ended their season. I'm they've been thinking for a year about playing and getting another shot at Whitworth."

Whitworth needs just one more win to tie a school record for consecutive victories. The 1995-96 team won 13 games in a row before losing the NAIA Division II title game. The 2006-07 squad also opened the season 13-0.

For what it's worth, the Bucs have a great shot at breaking the record for consecutive wins. They've been stellar on their home court during the entirety of Hayford's tenure as head coach. He has a .885 winning percentage as the chief Pirate.

Linfield (8-6, 6-0 NWC) comes into Friday's contest on a win streak of their own. They've won their last seven games.
