The Eastern Washington University women's basketball team lost a close non-conference matchup with Cal State Fullerton 58-55 Monday in Fullerton, Calif.

The Eagles had a chance at the buzzer to tie up the game to force overtime but Chene Cooper was unable to get the buzzer beater to fall. Eastern made just one three-pointer out of 12 attempts and was out-rebounded by 20.

Eastern got to the free throw line just seven times compared to the Titans 25 attempts. The Eagles never held the lead once in the game and had 22 turnovers.

Brianne Ryan finished the game with a double-double on 12 points and 10 rebounds. Julie Piper had a team-high 13 points along with eight rebounds. The Eagles once again had trouble finding their shot, shooting 38.5 percent for the game.

Eastern (6-6) will be back in action on Dec. 31 to open Big Sky Conference play at Sacramento State. The Eagles will then have their Big Sky opener at Reese Court on Jan. 8 against Montana, followed by a match-up with Montana State the next day on Jan. 9.
