Gonzaga still has non-conference games to play

After a loss that Gonzaga fans would rather just forget about, the Gonzaga Bulldogs dropped ten spots in the latest AP poll to No. 25.

At least they're in the poll, given what happened to them at Madison Square Garden Saturday against Duke. The Duke Blue Devils outplayed the Zags in every aspect of the game, winning 76-41 in a contest that started out chippy and sloppy for both teams.

"I don't want to take anything out of it," said Gonzaga coach Mark Few after the game in response to a question about what he wants to glean from the loss. "I just want to forget about it as quickly as possible."

"I thought we got throttled in every aspect of basketball," Few said in response to another question. "They outrebounded us, we turned the ball over, they made more free throws than us. I mean, they beat us in every aspect of the game. It was just an old-fashioned take you out to the woodshed and beat you down."

While many teams across the country go back home to prepare for their conference schedule, the Zags still have a handful of tough non-conference games yet to play. They have Christmas week off, but play Eastern Washington at The Kennel on Dec. 28. After that they play Oklahoma at Spokane Arena, followed by Illinois at the United Center in Chicago.

Gonzaga starts conference play against Portland on Jan. 9.
