Colfax just short of 2b state championship

TACOMA, Wash. - Despite a fierce 4th quarter comeback, Colfax lost to Adna 32-24 in the WIAA 2B Championship Game Saturday in Tacoma.  The Bulldogs were attempting to win their third state championship in high school football, and first since 2001.

Colfax jumped out to a 7-0 lead late in the first quarter on an Alex Teade 8-yard touchdown pass to Kellen Morgan.  The Pirates were quick to answer, though, scoring on an 80-yard touchdown run by Anthony Tatum :17 seconds later, as Adna reeled off 19 first half points to take a 19-10 lead.  The Pirates tacked on another touchdown in the third quarter to take a commanding 26-10 lead.  Seemingly with the game out of reach, the Bulldogs stormed back with two 4th quarter touchdowns.  Tyler McNannay found paydirt on a 4-yard pass from Alex Teade, and scored on a 1-yard run at 5:55 in the 4th to pull within two, 26-24.  Colfax could not convert on the two-pointer and that is as close as they would get, losing Teade to a concussion and falling 32-24.

McNannay finished with 115 yards rushing on 16 carries while Teade passed for 92 yards and 2 touchdowns on 16 attempts.  Tatum led Adna's high-powered offense, rushing for a game-high 119 yards on just 7 carries.
