West Valley, Ferris, Colfax head west for state title games

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - The three local high school football teams vying for state championships this weekend left early Friday morning bound for the Tacoma Dome.

Members and supporters of the West Valley Eagles team left Spokane Valley before the sun came up, gathering at the school around 5:30 in the morning. After a quick rally in the school's gym, players ran out the doors under tunnels of arms and into their seats.

West Valley will play Lynden from extreme northeast Washington Saturday at 10 a.m. The WIAA hasn't planned for any TV or webcast coverage.

Ferris tries for first-ever football title
The Ferris Saxons football team left around 7:30 Friday morning for a rematch with Skyline, the team that knocked them out of contention last year in the state semi-finals.

Players were greeted by friends, well-wishers and the school's pep band.

Ferris and Skyline play in the Tacoma Dome at 7:30 Saturday evening. The game can be seen live on Fox Sports NW.

Colfax vs. Adna for 2B championship
Colfax plays Adna from the Chehalis area for the state 2B championship. That game is at 4 p.m. in the Tacoma Dome with no TV or web coverage planned.

KHQ, SWX travels to Tacoma
KHQ's Sam Adams is making the trip to Tacoma to cover all three local teams' attempts at a state title. Viewers can see his live reports Saturday morning from 7-10 a.m., and then again on KHQ Local News at 5, 6 and 11.
