Sandpoint setter commits to Montana

Posted: Updated:

Sandpoint setter Kortney James is one of five recruits that committed to play volleyball at the University of Montana, head coach Jerry Wagner said on Wednesday.

James joins hitter Brooke Bray (Lake Tapps, Wash.), middle blocker Erika Buchanan (Shoal Lake, Manitoba), Kayla Reno (Spanaway, Wash).  Megan Murphey, from Bozeman, also committed to the Grizzlies.

Murphey helped Bozeman High to a second-place finish at the state Class AA volleyball tournament, earning first team all-state honors.

James, a 5-10 setter, is a senior at Sandpoint High and comes from a family of volleyball players.  Her oldest sister, Jennie, was a middle blocker at Idaho State.  Her other sister, Kelsey, was a setter at Idaho.  This year, James helped her team to a third-place finish at the state tournament.  She was a four-time all conference first-team selection and the conference's co-player of the year as a senior.
