CHENEY, Wash.- The senior quarterback from Cottonwood, Calif. has done it again for the Eagles.  Eastern Washington's Matt Nichols was named co-Offensive Player of the Week in the Big Sky Conference the league announced on Monday.

Nichols passed for 408 yards and five touchdowns against Northern Arizona to lead the Eagles past the Lumberjacks and into the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs.  He completed 22-of-33 passes and didn't have a single interception.

Also on Monday, the College Sporting News named Nichols a National All-Star, honoring him for his performance against NAU.

In the last five games, Nichols has completed 68 percent of his passes for 1,840 yards, 20 touchdowns and no interceptions.  His efficiency rating is 183.0.

This week marks the second time Nichols has been honored by CSN.  It's the third time this season he's been honored by the Big Sky Conference, and the seventh time in his career for such an honor.

The league also honored Northern Arizona quarterback Michael Herrick for his play against EWU.  Although his team lost, Herrick tied a BSC single-game record with 47 completions in 65 attempts for a school record 574 yards and four touchdowns.  He helped his team rally from a 42-27 fourth-quarter deficit to nearly upset the Eagles.

Montana punt returner Marc Mariani was named the Special Teams Player of the Week after he returned three punts for 120 yards and caught two touchdown passes in the Grizzlies' win over Montana State.  With the win, Montana earned the top seed in the playoffs.

Weber State linebacker Nick Webb was named the conference's Defensive Player of the Week.  The sophomore from Salt Lake City had nine tackles, forced a fumble and recovered a fumble in the Wildcats' 47-14 win over Cal Poly.
