SPOKANE, Wash. – The Gonzaga Bulldogs open up a home slate of games Thursday night at the McCarthey Athletic center, welcoming Michael Cooper’s team from USC.  Yes, THAT Michael Cooper, of Los Angeles Laker fame.

The Trojans, picked to finish middle-of-the-pack in the Pac 10, bring a 1-1 record into Thursday’s matchup – the first time they’ve ever played the Zags.

Gonzaga, with an identical record, is coming off a week during which point guard Courtney Vandersloot was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week.  She was one assist shy of a triple-double against South Dakota State, a game the Zags lost in overtime. She finished with a game-high 20 points and a career-high 11 steals.

Thursday’s game tips off at 6 p.m.

After Thursday’s game, the Zags host Washington for a contest dubbed “Pack the Kennel”.  That game is Sunday at 2 p.m.
