MOSCOW, Idaho – Four Zags scored in double figures, as Gonzaga ran away with a 80-57 win against Idaho Tuesday night in Moscow.

Senior Heather Bowman led Gonzaga with a game-high 20 points, including 16 in the second half.  Sophomore Katelan Redmon added 15.

Bianca Cheever and Shaena Kuehu both scored 15 for Idaho, but the Vandals struggled to overcome poor shooting against the Zags.

“Our effort was really good,” said Idaho coach Jon Newless in a news release.  “We come out and battled and played hard, but we missed 14 lay-ins that we charted on the bench and we’re 10-for-21 from the free throw line.  I bet that’s the worst a team I’ve coached shot from the free throw line in a game.  Those cost us because I really felt like we came out and played pretty good.”

The Zags held the Vandals scoreless for nearly 13 minutes in the first half, jumping out to an early 24-9 lead.  Kuehu hit a jumper at 15:30 to cut the Zags’ lead to 11-9, but Idaho didn’t hit another shot until 4:43 when Rachele Kloke scored.

Idaho made a run to start the second half, coming within seven points of the Zags, but the Bulldogs responded with a 15-2 run to put the game out of reach.

Gonzaga opens at home Thursday against USC at 6 p.m.

Idaho plays at Eastern Washington on Thursday at 7 p.m.
