MOSCOW - The University of Idaho women's basketball team took a hit on Thursday with the news that senior guard/post Derisa Taleni will miss the 2009-10 season with a knee injury.

Taleni, a media and coach pick on the 2009-10 preseason all-Western Athletic Conference second team, sustained an ACL injury during practice earlier in the week. Taleni earned WAC Newcomer of the Year and second-team all-WAC honors last season after ranking fourth in the conference and leading Idaho with a 14.5 scoring average.

Idaho head coach Jon Newlee said that Taleni will redshirt the 2009-10 season and return to the floor for the Vandals in 2010-11.
