Sounders: Another sellout and they're headed to the postseason

TUKWILA, Wash. - It's taken 11 years for another expansion team to reach the Major League Soccer playoffs, but the Seattle Sounders FC are heading to the MLS postseason.

Chicago was the last expansion team to make the playoffs, in 1998 when the Fire ended up winning the league title. Seattle has the same hopes and if they make the MLS Cup would be playing on its home field.

While Seattle is an expansion team, the Sounders have reset the expectation for what future MLS entries should look like. They freely spent to bring in top talent like Swedish star Freddie Ljungberg and former U.S. national team goalkeeper Kasey Keller. They also energized the local fan base and will complete a season full of sellouts on Saturday night in the regular season finale against FC Dallas.
