SPOKANE, Wash. - Think you have what it takes to play in the highest level of arena football? The Spokane Shock plan on giving anyone and everyone a shot by holding an open tryout for prospective players.
The tryout event is scheduled for Nov. 21 at the team's practice facility in Spokane Valley. It costs $50 for those who preregister, and slightly more for those who wait until the last minute. They ask anyone who tries out to come dressed appropriately - turf shoes, shorts and a t-shirt.
Format for the open tryout will be a pro-style combine followed by position drills. Participants will run through a series of athletic tests that include vertical jump, shuttle run, 40-yard dash and the broad jump. After testing, players will then break out into position-specific drills.
This will be the first open tryout for the Shock under new Head Coach Rob Keefe.
