Mora changes tune on Mare

Posted: Updated:

RENTON, Wash. - Coach Jim Mora has recanted his blistering criticism of Olindo Mare. He now says the Seahawks will not have a new kicker this weekend at Indianapolis.

Mora said yesterday that he spoke with too much knee-jerk emotion less than 24 hours earlier, after Mare missed two field goals in a six-point loss to Chicago. Mora said following the loss that the Seahawks would look at making changes everywhere. He made some of his most pointed comments about Mare.

In other Seahawks news, the 'Hawks could catch a break this weekend due to the latest injury report out of Indianapolis.  The Colts start defensive end Dwight Freeney will miss Sunday;s game because of a strained quadriceps muscle.  Freeney hurt his leg Sunday night's win over Arizona.  He could miss up to three weeks.

Meanwhile, Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck is still not practicing after suffering a broken rib.  He sat out Sunday's game against Chicago and is questionable this weekend against the Colts.
