Indians end losing streak with win over Boise

BOISE, Idaho - Three Spokane pitchers combined on a four-hitter, as the Indians ended a three-game losing streak wtih a 5-1 victory over the Boise Hawks before 2,211 fans at Memorial Stadium.  

Starter Bobby Wilkins went a season-high three and two-thirds innings in his first start, allowing just two hits, while reliever Sam Brown was dominant, retired ten of the 12 men he faced.  

The Indians scored three runs in the second off Hawks starter Jon Nagel - including a RBI single by Denny Duron.  They would add a two-run Clark Murphy homer in the ninth to make it 5-0, before Boise scratched out an unearned run in the bottom of the frame.   Four Hawks had a single hit - including a base hit from Hak-Ju Lee, extending his hit streak to 13.  Brooks Raley was impressive in his Boise debut, going three shutout innings, allowing no hits, one walk, and one strikeout.  

Game 2 of the series is tomorrow with Chris Rusin going for Boise against Spokane's Robbie Ross at 7:15 p.m.  

NOTES - Boise has hit just 8-for-55 with men in scoring position in their current six-game losing streak to the Spokane Indians.
