MOSCOW, Idaho - With first-game jitters out of the way, the Idaho Vandal soccer team is ready for its home opener this weekend against Utah Valley University.

Idaho and Utah Valley come into Sunday's game with identical 0-1 records.  The Vandals lost to cross-border rival Washington State last week.  The Wolverines fell 0-6 to Utah last Friday.

Utah Valley returns seven starters and 18 letter winners from the team that set a school record with an 11-7-1 record last season.  UVU isn't expected to slow down, as is evidenced by its pick as the favorite in the Great West Conference preseason poll.

Last time these two teams played it was an especially tight affair, as it took an extra 13 minutes to decide the outcome - a 2-1 double-overtime victory for Utah Valley at Orem, Utah. Idaho junior Jenn Hull cleaned up a loose corner kick in front of the goal in the 83rd minute to tie the game, but the Wolverines outshot Idaho 8-4 in extra time and knocked in the game-winner in the 103rd minute.

Sunday's game will be the third between the two teams and the second at Guy Wicks Field. The first match was a 2-0 UVU win on Sept. 15, 2006.

*Idaho will also host a neutral-site match between Utah Valley and Seattle University Friday at 4 p.m.
