SPOKANE, Wash. - The Texas Rangers on Tuesday assigned 32 players to the Spokane Indians for the 2009 season.  Among the new faces to the team: Washington State standout Jared Prince.

The Rangers selected Prince in the 35th round of the draft.  The right-handed native of Poulsbo, Wash. will play in the outfield for the Indians.

A couple more players with local ties from last week's draft have been also assigned to Spokane. Braden Tullis, an eighth round selection, was drafted out of Skagit Valley College in Mount Vernon, Wash. Keith Campbell, drafted in the 15th round by the Rangers, competed at Everett Community College after a successful recovery from Tommy John elbow reconstruction surgery.

The Rangers will assign additional players to the Indians in the next few days as they are signed to professional contracts.

Tim Hulett Sr. returns for his third season with the Indians. He led the Indians to the Northwest League Championship last season while winning Northwest League Manager of the Year Award in the process. Joining Hulett on the staff is former Spokane Indian and MLB All-Star Justin Thompson, who will serve as pitching coach. Josue Perez completes the staff as hitting coach. Perez has coached in the Rangers organization for three years and played professionally for eight seasons for the Dodgers, Phillies and Rangers.

The Indians will kick off the 2009 season with Opening Night Fireworks and AAA Magnet Schedule Giveaway on June 20th at 6:30 p.m.
