OAKLAND, Calif. - The Seattle Mariners will try to salvage the finale of a three-game series today at Oakland after losing 4-3 to the Athletics last night.

Jason Giambi's two-run single capped a four-run rally in the seventh inning for the A's, who won 6-1 on Memorial Day in the series opener. A's starter Dallas Braden (4-5) was unexpectedly rewarded for battling through seven innings of nine-hit ball when his teammates pounded Mariners relievers Miguel Batista (2-1) and Mark Lowe, who wasted six scoreless innings by Jarrod Washburn.

After Orlando Cabrera singled home a run and Matt Holliday drew a bases-loaded walk, Oakland went ahead with a single up the middle by Giambi.

Oakland has won two straight over Seattle after losing five of the clubs' first six meetings.

In today's game that starts at 12:37 p.m., the Mariners will start left-hander Erik Bedard (2-2, 2.64) against right-hander Trevor Cahill (2-4, 4.62).
