SPOKANE, Wash. - The Mead Panthers came close, but not close enough, losing 4-5 to Kamiak in the 4-A state soccer tournament on Tuesday.

With Kamiak up 1-0 in the first half at Joe Albi Stadium, Mead's Jay Jansen booted one in with the left foot with a man on him to tie the score at 1.  Later in the first half, Kamiak scored when Tyler Hawkinson headed in a corner kick.

The game would go all the way to a shootout, with the Kights ending the Panthers' season with a 5-4 win.

Pasco 5, Lewis & Clark 0
The Lewis & Clark Tigers ran into a buzz saw in Pasco, losing 0-5 to the Bulldogs on Tuesday.  Pasco's Paul Herrera headed in a pretty pass from Marco Acevedo to put the Bulldogs up 3-0.  They never let up. The Bulldogs have outscored their opponents 54-6 this season.

2A State Tournament

Cheney 1, Ridgefield 0
In Cheney, the Spudders had an opportunity to score when Antonio Tamez shot on goal.  Cheney's Andrew Wilson was there for the stop however.  In the second half Bryce Parkinson got a head on a corner kick and put the ball into the net for a 1-0 lead.  That's all Cheney would need to advance to the quarterfinals.
