MASON CITY, IA - The Wenatchee Wild had perhaps their most exciting victory of the season Thursdasy night with a 5-4 come from behind overtime victory over the second seeded Mahoning Valley Phantoms.

Wenatchee trailed 4-0 midway through the second period and it looked like their Cinderella season was all but over. Then the Wild managed to score two goals late in the second period and added two more in the third period to send the game to overtime. Wenatchee then scored 55 seconds into overtime to take the victory. The Wild outshot the Phantoms 38-32 for the game.

DJ Vandercook recorded a hat trick (3 goals), including the overtime game-winner, and an assist for the Wild, and Michael Voran and Nic Dowd each recorded three assists. Between the pipes, goaltender Mathieu Dugas turned aside 28 shots after coming in relief for Mac Carruth following Mahoning's third goal.

Each team in the tournament plays four games and the two teams with the best records play each other Sunday for the Robertson Cup, which is the junior A tier II national championship trophy. Today's victory gives Wenatchee a 2-1-0 record.

Meanwhile, St. Louis has a 1-0 record, Mahoning Valley is 2-0-1, Bismarck is 0-1, and North Iowa is 2-1. St. Louis and Bismarck face each other in the late game tonight, and St. Louis will play Mahoning Valley tomorrow afternoon. Wenatchee has the day off tomorrow and will play their final game of the round robin portion on Saturday against Bismarck.
