PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State basketball signee David Chadwick was released from his national letter of intent, the school's Athletic Director announced Thursday.

Chadwick (6-8, PF, Charlotte, NC) signed to play in Pullman beginning in the fall of 2009.  He intended to play for coach Tony Bennett, but decided to leave when Bennett left for Virginia.

"The situation with David Chadwick is unique in large part due to the close friendship shared between the Bennett and Chadwick families," said Jim Sterk, WSU's Athletic Director, in a news release.

Chadwick told The Daily Evergreen newspaper he was surprised Bennett took the job in Virginia.

Sterk said because of Chadwick's circumstance, he was released to commit to another university.
