Prep softball: Maddie Thompson homers and West Valley edges East Valley for 2A district title

Maddie Thompson went 2 for 2 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs, Kilee Imada went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs and West Valley (16-1) beat East Valley (10-9) 10-9 in the District 7 2A championship game at Smith Field on Tuesday.

West Valley stole 11 bases and scored six runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a 10-4 lead. Alex Dudley went 3 for 4 with an RBI for the Eagles.

Emma Glore hit a two-out grand slam that pulled East Valley within a run in the top of the fifth but West Valley reliever Rilee Homer allowed just two base runners the rest of the way.

Both teams play District 5/7 crossover games on Saturday at 1 p.m.

In a semifinal earlier in the day, Abby Brake struck out 10 in a three-hitter and went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and the Knights (10-8) eliminated Cheney (9-11) 10-3. Hailey McCarthy hit a two-run single and Maddie Camyn had two hits and scored twice for East Valley.

District 7 2B

Northwest Christian 12, Asotin 0: Alison Shaler tossed a perfect game and the Crusaders (18-3) beat the visiting Panthers (7-15) in a first-round matchup. Shaler went 2 for 3 with two RBIs, Jordan Rabe homered and Chloe Rainbow had a double, triple and three RBIs for NWC, which advances to a semifinal against Liberty on Saturday at Franklin Field.

Chewelah 11, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 2: Abby Fuller scattered four hits with eight strikeouts, Baylee Sobosky hit a three-run home run and the Cougars (13-7) beat the visiting Broncos (9-12) in a first-round game. Chewelah faces Colfax in a semifinal on Saturday.

Colfax 13, Davenport 1: Jorja Koerner allowed one run on three hits with four strikeouts and the Bulldogs (18-2) beat the visiting Gorillas (6-11) in a first-round game. Davenport faces LRS in a loser-out on Saturday.

Liberty 10, Kettle Falls 5: Cheyanne Gleave went 3 for 3 with a double, two home runs and five RBIs, Jaidyn Stephens struck out 12 and the Lancers (13-5) beat the visiting Bulldogs (11-9) in a first-round game. Kettle Falls faces Asotin in a loser-out on Saturday.
