Prep basketball: Northwest Christian girls, Chewelah boys stay alive at 2B district tourney

Girls

Northwest Christian 60, Kettle Falls 26: Ellie Sander scored 18 points with eight rebounds and the Crusaders (18-4) eliminated the Bulldogs (10-12) in a District 7 2B loser-out at West Valley HS on Monday. Jordan Rabe added 11 points with eight boards for NWC faces Chewelah in a loser-out on Wednesday. Mya Edwards led Kettle Falls with 13 points.

Chewelah 43, Tekoa Rosalia 23: Alyssa Fitzgerald scored 11 points and the Cougars (12-11) eliminated the Timberwolves (2-21). Bailey Smith added 10 points for Chewelah, while Elise Wilkens paced T-R with 10 points.

Bonners Ferry 58, Kellogg 35: Holly Ansley scored 21 points and the Badgers (17-6) beat the Wildcats (10-12) in the Idaho 3A District 1 second-place game to earn a berth to state.

Boys

Chewelah 60, Kettle Falls 46: Jake George was one of three with 12 points and the Cougars (12-11) eliminated the Bulldogs (9-13) in a District 7 2B loser-out. Nick Franks and Johnny Larson added a dozen apiece. Chewelah plays in a loser-out on Wednedsay.

Odessa 80, Cusick 56: Ryan Moffett scored 41 points and the Tigers (20-1) topped the Panthers (15-6) in a District 7 1B semi at Deer Park HS. Odessa plays in the district title game on Saturday, while Cusick faces a loser-out on Wednesday. Tim DeWulf added 12 points with 17 rebounds and Jaden Hunt had 10 points for Odessa. Colton Stanholtzer led Cusick with 17 points.

Oakesdale 57, Prescott 45: Evan Henning scored 13 points and the Nighthawks (14-7) beat the visiting Tigers (13-6) in a District 9 1B first-round game. Oakesdale meets Garfield-Palouse on Wednesday for the district title, while Prescott plays Pomeroy in a loser-out. Kieron Anderson added 10 points with 12 rebounds for Oakesdale. Jonathan Cardenas led Prescott with 17 points.
