Samantha Heilman picks up goal, assist as Gonzaga shuts out Colorado State in women’s soccer

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Junior Samantha Heilman scored her first collegiate goal and assisted on the other score Thursday as Gonzaga recorded its first shutout of the season with a 2-0 nonconference women’s soccer win over Colorado State.

Heilman picked up her fifth assist of the season when she fed Madeline Gotta in the fifth minute. Gotta, just outside the penalty area, recorded her second goal of the season.

Gabriela Maas assisted on Heilman’s goal in the 13th minute.

Isabel Jones made five saves for the Bulldogs (4-2-1).

The Zags and Rams (2-3-2) had never met before.
