Area roundup: North Idaho women place second, CC Spokane third in Centralia golf

Haley Rotchford shot a 28-over-par 171 to place sixth and help the Community Colleges of Spokane Sasquatch women finish third on Monday at the Centralia College Invitational at Capital City Golf Course in Olympia.

CC Spokane carded a 532 total to finish four strokes behind runner-up North Idaho. Bellevue won with a 504 total.

NIC’s Nicole Miller finished 24-over and placed third behind Bellevue’s Meg McMullen (19-over 162) and Lindsey Gullikson (166).

• Braydon Swapp and Luke Logan shot 6-over 149s to tie for fifth place and guide the North Idaho Cardinals men to a third-place showing at the Centralia College Invitational at Riverside Golf Course in Centralia, Washington.

NIC (606) finished seven shots behind Bellevue and three back of runner-up Olympic. CC Spokane (619) was sixth. Gavin Campbell paced CCS with a 12-over 155 to place 16th.

Shock hire assistant

The Spokane Shock announced the hiring of Cleveland Pratt as the team’s assistant head coach and director of player development.

Pratt spent the last seven years with the Tri-Cities Fever – the last six under new Shock head coach Adam Shackleford.

Awards

Gonzaga Bulldogs senior Jordan Gasser earned West Coast Conference volleyball Player of the Week honors.

Gasser hit .714 in a sweep of Saint Mary’s – the best percentage by a GU player in a decade.

• Spokane native Kennadie Clute (Mt. Spokane) was named the Frontier Conference volleyball Attacker of the Week.

The Lewis-Clark State junior averaged 4.25 kills and 3.13 digs with a .306 attack percentage in two matches.
