Greg Foster Jr., who announced 10 days ago he was transferring from Gonzaga, has committed to St. Joseph’s.
Gonzaga’s opening in the backcourt remains open. The Zags have been looking to add another veteran guard but it won’t be USC graduate transfer point guard Derryck Thornton. Thornton has committed to Boston College, according to numerous media reports.

It was a long wait for Clarkston native Joel Dahmen, but it was worth it. Dahmen’s chances of earning a spot in the 119th U.S. Open were good after he finished as the first alternate in a large sectional qualifier in Columbus, Ohio, packed with PGA players. Dahmen received word Sunday that he had been added to the 156-player field. The third major of the season unfolds Thursday through Sunday at Pebble Beach.
Gonzaga has dominated the men’s basketball series recently with Washington, but the rivalry grew more interesting last year when the Zags escaped with an 81-79 win in Spokane. The programs have agreed to extend the series for another four games, beginning at the McCarthey Athletic Center in the 2021 season. The teams close out the current four-year contract this winter at Alaska Airlines Arena.

Peter Lansburgh, a 31-year-old pro from Sacramento, pulled away on the back nine for a four-stroke victory with a 72-hole total of 18-under 270 at the Lilac City Invitational on Sunday at the Fairways. Lansburgh captured his first multi-round tournament win since a 2013 Dakotas Tour event.

Peter Lansburgh made the biggest move, firing a 6-under-par 66 for a three-day total of 12 under and a one-shot lead over good friend Jesse Schutte. T.K. Kim and first-round leader Steve Tarkon are two shots off the pace at 10-under 206.

Steve Prugh responded promptly that son Alex had indeed earned a berth in the U.S. Open by surviving a three-man playoff for two spots Monday at RattleSnake Point Golf Club in Ontario.
Greg Foster Jr. has entered his name in the transfer portal and isn’t expected to return to Gonzaga, according to a source.

Gusty winds and speedy greens didn’t stop numerous pros from posting low scores Thursday in the first round of the Lilac City Invitational.
The NCAA has approved moving the 3-point line to the international basketball distance, which probably won’t raise an eyebrow for the six international players on Gonzaga’s roster next season.

North Carolina transfer Seventh Woods lists Gonzaga among his top three schools. Woods told The State newspaper of Columbia, South Carolina, that he’s also considering South Carolina and Michigan.
