The winner? Well, they'll face the daunting task of playing one of the best teams in the country: Stanford.
The Cougars (8-21, 3-15 Pac-10) are hoping things turn out differently than they did a year ago against the Wildcats. Arizona (13-16, 6-12 Pac-10) won that game 79-72. This year, WSU is the 9th seed, while the Wildcats are the No. 8 seed.
Arizona won both meetings this season. In Pullman, Washington State's April Cook scored 15 points and Carly Noyes grabbed 15 rebounds, but the Cougars couldn't come overcome a slow start. They lost 60-37 on Jan. 7 at Friel Court. On Feb. 4 in Arizona, the Cougars lost 66-73, even after their tied the game at 48 in the second half.
The game between the Cougars and Wildcats is scheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Galen Center in Los Angeles.
