A pair of Cougars are literally leaping at the opportunity to compete for a national title at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Holly Parent and Trent Arrivey will represent WSU at the championships being held at Fayetteville, Arkansas March 12-13.

Parent, a freshman from Victoria, B.C., is a high jumper scheduled to jump Friday at 12:45 p.m. (PT). During this most recent indoor season she reached the sixth-highest mark in Washington State history, clearing 5-11 1/2 (1.82m).  She won a gold medal at the 2009 Canada Summer Games and competed in the 2008 World Championships in Poland.

Arrivey, from Woodinville, Wash., is also a high jumper and will compete Saturday at 2:45 p.m. Arrivey cleared 7-4 1/4 (2.24m) to start the 2010 Indoor season and was named the Athlete of the Week on Jan. 26 of this year by USAJumper.com. He was an All-American in both 2008 and 2009.

Jeshua Anderson, Washington State's star track athlete, was scratched from the 400m dash.  He and the rest of the men's 4X400 relay team were also scratched from the meet.
