The Whitworth Pirates secured a spot in the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA DIII tournament after a big win Saturday night in the fieldhouse in North Spokane. The No. 4 Bucs learned on Sunday they'll be playing No. 10 Eastern Mennonite at Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Whitworth defeated Chapman 77-56 in the second round of the tournament on Saturday to improve to 26-2. Nate Montgomery scored 23 points in the win and brought down 14 rebounds. The Northwest Conference Player of the Year made 7-of-9 from the field and shot 9-of-11 from the free throw line.

Eastern Mennonite, from the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, won two games on its home floor in the opening rounds of the tournament. The Royals beat Centre College 63-53 and toppled Wilmington 85-71.

The three other sectional hosts for the DIII tournament include Williams College, Wisconson-Stevens Point and St. Mary's (Maryland).
