SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane Shock receiver Markee White is moving on. White signed a contract with the Hartford Colonials of the UFL, the team announced Tuesday.
White was named Offensive Player of the Game in last week's Arena Bowl, catching nine passes for 99 yards and four touchdowns. His second touchdown was named SportsCenter's top play of the night.
"I'm so proud of Markee, this is an excellent opportunity for him that he deserves," said coach Rob Keefe in a news release. "With his size and his speed I know he will thrive in the outdoor game."
In just eight games with Spokane White collected 66 receptions for 925 yards and 18 touchdowns. He helped Spokane win the af2 championship in 2009 and the AFL's Arena Bowl in 2010.
Keefe said he was pleased to see one of his players move on to the next level of his career.
"This is what it is all about," said Keefe. "We want to win, have fun while we are doing it and move our players to the next level."
Shock announce Championship Rally
The Shock will hold a championship rally at Spokane Arena on Wednesday at 6 p.m., the team announced Tuesday.
Members of the 2010 Championship Team will be in attendance, along with coaches and members of the front office. The Arena Bowl trophy will be on display so fans can see it and take pictures of it.
"This has been an unbelievable season," said head coach Rob Keefe. "Or fans have shown us so much support all season long. We just wanted to thank them one more time before we start getting ready to defend out title."
