The Spokane Shock have yet to lose a road game this season, and they don't intend on losing Friday against Jacksonville (Photo: SWX)The Spokane Shock, still at No. 1 in the coaches poll, will work to justify that ranking Friday night on the road in another game shown nationwide on NFL Network.
This week's game against No. 3 Jacksonville is the final game of the regular season before the playoffs on Aug. 6 in Spokane. It will be the second meeting between the two teams. Spokane won the first time around 67-57 back in May.
Even though the Shock have home field advantage locked up throughout the postseason, they say they have plenty to prove.
"I want to make sure they know we're a better team," said head coach Rob Keefe. "And I want to make sure that if we happen to see them again, 'they beat us at home, they beat us away, and now we're in the championship game in Spokane with 11,000 crazy fans on the NFL Network...' I mean, that's already a motivational thing that's going to be against them - a mental thing that's going to be against them. So, regardless of how we do it, I want to win this football game."
Players know the game against Jacksonville could set the tone for the playoffs. A well-played game could give them the confidence to keep rolling.
"It definitely means a lot, just to have momentum into the playoffs and make sure we don't fall out of sync," said receiver Greg Orton.
Friday's game kicks off at 4:35 p.m. on NFL Network.
